There are 8 miniature models for the crew in the Core Box. If you did NOT get sundrop, you can decide which miniature you want to use for each of the four Sections by simply placing the miniature in one of the color rings that came with the game.

If you DID get sundrop, Awaken Realms has already chose a default Section for each miniature (2 per Section), again, based on the Section colors!

Purple – Science

Blue – Security

Yellow – Engineering
