Detailed Look at Lost Fleet

This is my second attempt to show you Lost Fleet from Wave 2 of ISS Vanguard. My first try showed everything that you got in the box, but it was too confusing trying to understand… mainly because in order to actually PLAY the Lost Fleet campaign, you must first make a “hybrid” of your ISS Vanguard box! You remove some cards and add other cards. You replace pages in the Ship Book. And more!

So, this is NOT an unboxing, but rather a look at what is involved to get started playing The Lost Fleet!

I will add a kind of summary below the video window!

Summary of getting started with The Lost Fleet:

Basically… reset everything the way it was at the start of the core game campaign. Clear out the Ship Book, Awaiting Envelope and all four Section Boxes. They also tell you to:

  • Recreate Tutorial Decks A and B
  • Restore the Secret Envelope to how it originally was

TIP! You can use my article that I wrote on how to do this:
=> Reset The Game

Next … fill both Card Tray A and Card Tray B as explained in the Core Game rulebook. After you have the trays back to how the game originally started … then you will modify and alter them for The Lost Fleet!

CARD TRAY A

  1. Point Of Interest cards: Keep all the P000 and P001 cards. Remove the rest. Replace them with the new Lost Fleet Point Of Interest cards
  2. Mission cards: Remove all. Replace with new Lost Fleet Mission cards
  3. Global Condition cards: Remove all. Replace with new Lost Fleet Global Condition cards
  4. Discovery cards: Remove 5 of the cards as listed. Put all remaining Discovery cards in Tray A
  5. Unique Discovery cards: Remove all. Replace with new Lost Fleet Unique Discovery cards
  6. Rank-Up cards: Use Core game cards
  7. Injury cards: Remove Freezing Injury cards. Keep the rest. PLUS add the Lost Fleet Injury cards.
  8. Event cards: Remove all. Replace with the Advanced Event cards from the Core game
  9. NOTE: there now will be LESS cards in Card Tray A for Lost Fleet than with the Core game, so there is a “filler box” that you can place in the tray to keep the cards from tipping over.

CARD TRAY B

  1. Equipment cards: Remove those listed. Place the Core cards as listed behind the Armory divider. All remaining cards plus all Lost Fleet cards go behind Unavailable Equipment
  2. Crew cards: Place all Core crew cards behind Recruits divider.
    • House Rule: The rules have ALL the crew that died during your play of the original Core campaign back alive! If you want to have a bit more continuity, you can remove the crew who had died in the Core campaign. However (of course) remember that crew may die during your play of Lost Fleet as well … (you don’t want to run out of crew members:)
  3. Landing cards: Remove all. Replace with Lost Fleet Landing cards (behind “Landing Cards” divider).
    • Note: these are NOT the “Lander” cards (the ships you pilot). These are the cards that you use to “scan” a planet before setting up your Away Team landing team!
  4. Facility Upgrade cards: Keep F01-F06. Add the Lost Fleet F07-F08 and H01-H09 (behind Facility Upgrades divider)
  5. Situation cards: Some go behind Possible Situations. Remove all others. Add the Lost Fleet Situation cards
  6. Research Project cards: Remove all. Replace with Lost Fleet Research Project cards
  7. Production Project cards: Remove all. Replace with Lost Fleet Production Project cards
  8. Survivors: Add the divider card. Add the Lost Fleet Survivor cards
  9. Lander Mod cards: Just remove one (A31). Keep the rest plus add the Lost Fleet Lander Mod cards
  10. Objective cards: Remove all. Place Lost Fleet Objective cards behind Bridge Cards divider
  11. Bridge cards: Place Core Morale, Tech Level, and Bridge Upgrade cards behind Bridge Cards divider. Add the Lost Fleet Bridge Upgrade cards.
  12. Tutorial Deck cards: Remove all (except crew cards). See article detailing the cards:

    • 31-32
    • 39-40
  3. Add Lost Fleet cardholder page 41
  4. Insert specified starting cards into these cardholders:
    • Page 3
    • Page 9
    • Page 13
    • Page 14
    • Page 19
    • Page 21
    • Page 29

LOGBOOK

You get a choice here.

=> Keep Things As They Were

If you finished the Core campaign and want to continue the Lost Fleet the way things ended up, you can do so! You look at the specified boxes in the Core game logbook to see if they were “checked” or not. Then you “check” (or leave “unchecked”) boxes in the Lost Fleet logbook! These logs in the Core game are used for this:

  • Log 930
  • Log 910
  • Log 965
  • Log 920
  • Log 960

Core Logbook log 880 lists all the surviving crewmembers. Place them into their corresponding Section boxes.

=> Choose New Settings for Lost Fleet campaign

Choose how to set the checkboxes for 7 Lost Fleet logs. Then also choose ONE of two paths:

  • Diplomatic path
  • Military path

SECTION BOXES

  • Include Rank Sleeves
  • Include Section cards from Core game AND Lost Fleet
  • Choose the specified starting dice for each Section
